Will the hurling games be played in Tullamore this year?

But great fixtures anyway. To play the likes of Galway, Clare and Limerick at home will be a massive boost. And distance to travel to the away matches aren't too far either. Thurles and Portlaoise is always somewhere that we've performed well in recent years.

As for the football, don't think I'll be rushing home to see the might of London, Waterford, Kilkenny and Tipperary.

I wonder if a uibhfhaili.com session is on the cards?? Ennis/Carlow??

Call me the voice of doom but I can see us struggling big time to get out of this horrible DIV 4. There are some nasty little trips away in Belfast, Carlow, Aughrim and Ennis and to be quite honest I can see us losing at least 2 of these games. Im especially having nightmares coming away from belfast and Aughrim pointless, Clare in Ennis are a bitch to beat and as bad as Carlow are we always seem to have a major struggle in getting anything out of Dr Cullen Park, the 4 home games will be a laugh if nothing else.
As for the hurlers, I have a feeling they will do quite well, you would be hoping to take something from Clare, Limerick and Galway at home and surely to god we won't make a stones of it against Laois in Portlaoise.

Would agree B&R there are some nasty trips but this is a mess this team got us into so they have to dig the county out of.

My take is if we can't get out of this div then we're at nothing. We have to go in with the bit in our gobs and rip all before us and lay down some sort of intention for the year. The team needs to be training now, and I don't think they are, to hit the ground running by the end of Jan. We have to show a no mercy approach to all the games, now I don't condone kicking the crap out of the likes of KK but we have to keep playing for 60 mins at high intensity. Start looking for good things that we can get out of this and that's a winning attitude, winning is a habit like loosing. I'm angry writing this so I hope that the players are in the same frame of mind and show it in every game, that includes a cold, wet windy Sunday in the ares hole of no where.

I wouldn't like to use it as an excuse, but unquestionably, much like last year, that's a horrid schedule for the footballers. Kilkenny, London and Tipperary without Declan Browne as they will be are teams that could not beat anyone. It is of no value to get all three of them at home - certainly in contrast with Clare who get to travel to all three of them and thus get four of the five real matches at home, it's no contrast. It's like ourselves vs Roscommon last year all over again. That said, our players have got themselves into this mess and how they approach getting out of it will tell a lot about their character. They didn't deserver any luck, and they'll have to get out of this division the hard way.

To put it another way - I think that from a championship perspective this is what you want. Carlow might be decent or they might not, but away trips to Wicklow, Clare and Antrim will be real tests of our players and could be a reasonable platform too. Certainly it beats getting a pure handy run full of games that will tell nothing about our team.

As for the hurlers, well that's just a plum run of games. Tipp match will be in Nenagh where we've got a few results, Laois is certainly a winnable fixture, and the three home games should hopefully get a bit of an atmosphere going and get a bit of positive feeling going in advance of next year.

As for trips away, Belfast and Carlow are the two that jump out at me - what say the board?

We were also very lucky that in our party was a friend of mine from Down who knows Belfast quite well and to be honest I still wouldn't have a clue how to get to the ground so Im hoping to latch on behind the team bus or one or two others that will remember where Casement is.

Casement is okayish to get to if you get off the motorway in the correct place and get back on the Andersontown road.
Making sure you find your way back onto motorway after might be a bit trickier.

However it is in the Southern part of West Belfast, so you'd have to get very lost before you'd accidentally find yourself on the Shankill Road or some other Loyalist hellhole. Your Offaly memorabilia would go down a treat!

Lads, not to worry. I being an esteemed comrade in the Offaly Liberation Organisation have been working alongside the best that West Belfast has to offer, some fine tradesmen I tells ya. Arragh, not at all, I’m a BIFFO studying up here and I’m really looking forward to that night in February. It’s actually quite straightforward to navigate oneself around Beal Feirste. As you approach Belfast from the South (M1), you will actually drive past Casement on the Westlink Motorway, it’s gigantic floodlights will alert you of that. However it’s inaccessible from the Motorway. Now, if one follows the signs for Falls Road, taking a swift left before two landmark Tower Blocks, one will end up on the Falls. Then one simply has to continue driving up the Falls for approx 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. If any fellow comrades do make the (Epic) journey ye will be treated with massive hospitality, as these are true Irishmen and women. Allez Les Faithful!
