This is more like it lads, a good debate without the grandstanding and disection of the most miniscule points I've seen on this site recently.

As for Dubs fans well this can explain a lot about the Hill - A Kerry man in the Dubs lair: http://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic- ... 38632.html

One of my mates is a Hill based supporter, has been for 20 years, and even he gives out about the 'dope' element (in more than one way) that has always been there.

I recently sent this to him "Ah yes, who wouldn’t want the warming properties of your neighbours’ urine seeping into your trouser leg, ducking and swaying to avoid flying bottles, the smell of stale beer and vomit from the drunken spotty teenager who is wondering where Richie Foran is playing or the press of a naked sticky sweaty beer belly after every score? Not to mention the ‘howayaaaas’, the hooped earring brigade, the sea of peroxide and the sovereign ring/Ben Sherman sporting, Stella swilling, jauntily angled peak cap wearing wannabee ASBOs that also turn out on the hill in their thousands in June and July but couldn’t tell you where Parnell Park is located." He said it was spot on for the bandwagonists.

Mind you we also have the same 'dopes' in Offaly colours wrecking heads in Croker. http://www.uibhfhaili.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1365.

I suppose it comes down to the supporter who turns out to watch their county at any grade/s*x regardless of whether they expect them to win or not. I hate to write this but if I want to watch football I'll look in the direction of Tyrone/Kerry/Cork and Cork/Kilkenny/Waterford for hurling. It still won't stop me from acknowledging the sacrifices our players make by supporting them whenever they turn out for Offaly.

Growing up in Gracefield there was a fierce rivalry with our over the bridge neighbours Portarlington. Anytime we played them in a tournament game in the seventies and eighties there was holy murder, and of course the Offaly/Laois rivalry was hostile to say the least. We hated the bastards and still do to this very day.
