Survival for our hurlers and footballers in their respective leaguesSuperhans75 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 3:20 pm Basically it's only 3 months away

Survival, for sure.
For the hurlers, that will mean two wins minimum. Waterford and Galway are probably the most realistic targets. Being competitive vs Kilkenny, Cork, Limerick and Tipp would represent real progress.
For the footballers, realistic targets are Kildare, Cork, Cavan, Meath,, Louth, Derry possibly. Again, at least a couple of wins needed.
For both codes, we are reaching up to beat teams that have been operating at a higher level than us in recent years, so survival would mean significant progress.
Looking at the physical power of Killian Sampson at the weekend, this should be another target for the upcoming season for both codes: physical development to close the gap to the stronger teams. For “gold standard” see (in our divisions) the Limerick hurlers, or Tyrone footballers. Closing that gap in the coming seasons for both teams has to be a priority.

Offaly ain't beating Galway, Waterford maybe at a stretch. Almost certain to be relegated.

Highly unlikely we pick up a win in Division 1A of the hurling league. But……..the games will be fantastic preparation for the Leinster Championship. Which is where our focus should really be.
Compare our preparations for Leinster to what Clare face ahead of Munster. Brian Lohan basically throwing away Clare’s Division 1A status could really bite Clare in the ass come championship 2026. Games vs Antrim, Kildare, Carlow and Down is no way to prepare for a Munster Championship.
It actually reminds me of our stint in Division 2 in Spring 2005 and what followed in Leinster that year. The day the music died.

I think Hurling division 1A is a bridge to far
But a lot depends on wether KK win the county final .or progress in Leinster
Football is definitely going to be a different kettle of fish
I think we might have an extra away game which could be a massive difference.
And if we can. Stop the fact we tend to go to sleep for about 15 minutes in a game
We can compete and should not be afraid of anyone.
