Re: Club football 2025

Genuine question here - what happened at the AGM on Friday that was worthy of inclusion in the match report as a possible distraction?
Also, wouldn't it be common enough for a local journalist to attend AGMs if they feel that there might be something in the sporting public interest to report on? As ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025

The individual in question has nothing to do with Kilcormac Killoughey, they refuse to give him membership and there is very little else they can do.
I hope the ban from grounds he gets comes from a court of law.
If it is just the GAA/county board then he will show up at club games and cause ...

Re: U 20 football championship 2025

The other point on the format is that I am sure there was a goal to ' run the championship off ' as efficiently as possible. By my calculation, the current format achieves this in 5 rounds. Round 1, round 2 (the mix of winners v winners and losers v losers), QF, SF, F. If that was a stipulation ...

Re: U 20 football championship 2025

I put the championship structure into an AI engine and asked it to explain the structure. The first sentence back from the AI was: "That's an interesting and slightly complex structure!" :D

If AI is saying that it is complicated, then it is definitely complicated!

It definitely seems that the ...

Re: Underage Hurling and Football 2025

Their dominance and consistency is incredible year in year out across the grades. They are not in this season’s u16 final, however, following a defeat to Tullamore in the semi final.

Re: Club football 2025

Edenderry deserve a county title to reflect their efforts of recent years? Sorry what? They haven’t reached a county final in 10 years given their size they are the undoubted under achievers and you can’t say they deserve one when they can’t even reach the final stage

Where was it stated that ...

Re: Club football 2025

Semi-final weekend is upon us and it is as low-key a buildup as I can remember. We have ended up with the 4 teams in the semis that everyone predicted. Bar the Shamrocks' 1/4 final performance, no other team came close to an upset, and the lack of relegation led to blowouts in most group games ...

Re: Club football 2025

Ah, got it. Thanks. A picture definitely paints a thousand words in this instance. I had imagined some scenario where he was hooking one over his shoulder and the ball was nearly behind him as he made contact, and hence on the line as he made contact.

You'd want a good lawyer in your corner to get ...

Re: Club football 2025

Lone Shark, if you get a minute, would you mind explaining this because I have read it a couple of times and I am trying to work it out? (I haven't seen the footage or talked to anyone about the score, so maybe that would help, but I am flying blind here)

If you slow down the replay, his kicking ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025

The reality is that Durrow's season has been over for a while now, so, understandably, players are going to focus on a competition that they have aspirations of winning. To those focused on the hurling, fulfilling the fixture would be nice, but not as nice as letting the hurlers get an uninterrupted ...

Re: Club football 2025

Worrying scorelines over the weekend in terms of the gaps between the teams. So far, we have had 7 games played in the Senior championship and an average winning margin of 11.2 points per game. Only 1 game has finished with a winning margin of less than 9 points, and you would imagine that Rhode ...

Re: Offaly U20 hurling championship 2025

I see Clara/BG have conceded tonight’s match. A shame to see this in a 1/4 final of a championship.

I know nothing about details and only see the results/fixtures from the website as well as the comments in here. It definitely is confusing and not a common format. Smacks of ‘“let’s run it off and ...

Re: Offaly vs Dublin 1997 U21s - Parnell Park riot

I clicked on the above youtube link ended up watching the highlights of Offaly v Dublin in 1992. Bit of nostalgia as I was at the game and remember the terrible weather and the traveling Dublin fans taking over the place. So strange to look back on it all these years later.

The game itself was ...
