Re: How can we affect change within the county@

Anyone hear how the meeting to look at current state of games went on Monday night? Good representation of clubs?

Isn't Thursday night just the monthly meeting of the full board?

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012

A post doesn't have to be laid out impeccably to be understood and for what it's worth I would agree in a broad sense with gaalltheway - Pat Kirwan has more virtue than vice as a hurling manager. I'm not totally convinced he'd be the right man for the job but i'm 100% convinced he'd be a better ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012

Lads, lads, ye're looking at this all wrong. Everyone knows you have to win one to lose one, so what we need is the fellow who's LOST most medals, easy.

And on a serious note I'm not so sure as some of ye that Paddy K would be a disaster.

Re: Hurling to return to St Brendan's Park

Can St Brendens park hold the crowd for a county final it holds 6000 and the last few years the smallest crowd was 7000 and over 10000 for tullamore and kilcormac in 2009 and that was just people paying not including kids and oap.

I believe it's somehwere around 13,000 once the terraces are ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012

Just to pick up on a few points in this thread:

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012

Does nobody think Joe should get one more crack of the whip?

Ok, we got relegated in the league with some poor results, but he has brought this team on a lot, from being hammered by Cork in 2007 and 2009 to matching them on Saturday, even minus several first choice players. At least the fight is ...

Are you basing that on 3pm throw in? If so you, you have an extra half hour, throw in at 2.30 in Cork

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

Anyone read Ger Loughnane today? Don't always agree with him, but his article today talked about how important it was to get back to Birr and how Clare coming to Tullamore felt more like a neutral venue anywhere in the country, among other things.

Just an interesting read from someone outside the ...

Re: So what DID happen?

4. One or more hurlers tried to get on the pitch before they were scheduled.

Seems it wasn't quite as simple as that from what I've been told just now. They weren't tryign to gain access to play on the the pitch, they weren't even allowed cross the pitch to get to the video room. They got ...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

what people are getting is a very one sided view at the moment.. once the county board speak on the matter a lot more will be clear and a lot of what was said will be answered in detail.. that dosent excuse some of the county board actions over the years but wait until then...

Sounds like you ...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

Expect this to spill over into a major issue come next season. I was in Birr a while back and was being told players would stike if games were not moved back to Birr next year. I laughed at the time but now this letter seems set to spark an internal row within the county over the coming months. I'm ...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

Every hurling person I know wants to see Birr back in use, at least partially. Unfortunately I can't see it happening. The balance of power has always been with the north offaly clubs, throw in county board execs as well and it's impossible to get it turned around.
