I think in particular of John Glennon.

Delighted
Have a lot of thoughts but I'll try and limit it.
So happy for the management and backroom team, 7 or 8 guys who have each given close to 20 years to Offaly teams in different capacities.
Also the people who would have developed this team in their clubs, the Development Squads, in the S&C ...

As an outsider I never imagined that I could feel this any stronger about another club than when I wrote it, but unfortunately events mean that this evening pride is mixed with sadness.

Re: Defunct clubs
Just like lemonaghan-Millane- Ballinahown the parish name can vary from Wheery and Tisaran or killagally and Tisaran or Ferbane and Belmont
Instead of using a Saint’ Wheery is usually used when amalgamation occurred or when Ferbane used permission players as a sort of non controversial name ...

Mellowes operated from around 1944 for about four or five years. They were designed to allow players from Doon, Ballycumber and Erin Rovers to play Junior with their own club and Senior with Millane. The name may or may not have been provided by Tom Keena.

Millane Mellowes were a parish side. The names used by parishes are often a movable feast. The parish has been variously labelled Ballinahown/ Lemonaghan/ Millane . Barney Mellowes brother of Liam and a notable revolutionary in his own right was supposed to be a frequent visitor to Bellair before ...

Well done to the Squad.
Since appearing in the 2006 Final, Offaly have won three games in Leinster; Since 2011 Offaly sides have played something like 99 times in league and championship scoring three or more goals on four Occasions.

Breaking vicious circles
The Cribbin and Flanagan eras had their dark days too. In 2010 a club delegate called the Leinster first round defeat a ‘disgrace’ at a county board meeting, after Wexford game in 2011 the team were whipping boys until they beat Monaghan. Armagh defeat in 2017 there were ...

As a matter of interest, can anyone on here think of any player that didn’t make themselves available and/or was dropped off any of the successful Offaly teams of recent years.
1994 and 98 hurling
97 Leinster football
1998 league
I think possibly James Grennan was working away (possibly ...
