Re: Club Football
What a great county final. It was certainly one of the best in recent years and for me probably should’ve ended in a draw. The momentum really did swing both ways many times and just when it looked like Ferbane had put Tullamore under real pressure (going 2 points up after around 56 minutes), it was ...

Re: Club Football
Completely off topic here but can someone tell me what the 15 & 12 represents on the Clara crest ??
15th December (15 & 12) 1884 represents the date on which the Clara GAA club was founded, making it one of the older clubs in Ireland.
Thanks for that bit of background on Clara GAA magpie ...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024
Silken Thomas had some great content on this forum, but Offaly's Future lives long in the memory.
He retired young after going for the heavyweight belt a couple of times.

Re: Shane Dooley Retirement
Surprised to see no mention of this. Such a central figure in Offaly hurling for so long.
I agree. A great servant to Offaly through a prolonged period of difficulty for hurling in the County.
Perhaps his retirement has been coming for some time and with a sense of expectation, people are ...

Re: Club Football Championship 2022
In pretty close to perfect weather conditions (Ok, it was a little bit windy), this was a County Final low on quality.
Tullamore entered the game as warm favorites, but after watching the first 15 minutes of the game, it became clear that it was going to be a difficult afternoon for them.

Re: National Foothall league Div 2 predictions
Lone Shark has touched on something that is evident on this board, but also across the county. The expectations that people have on the U20 footballers to progress and carry Offaly forward are extraordinary.

Re: Offaly Senior Football Championship 2021
There's always a greater sense of an era ending when a long established team gets the run-around from an emerging, young and energetic team.
This is a key point. Unless there is a significant change, any flavour of a Rhode team should be top 4 material for some time. And if you’re top 4 ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Championship 2021
Having attended an enjoyable County Final, I thought this was worth a post.
In no particular order:
1. Niall McNamee is doing what Ronaldo is doing. At times against Tullamore, he was triple-marked. We all know how the game ended. He put the ball in just about the only place he could squeeze it in ...

Re: Niall McNamee Retires
I haven't posted here in a while for a number of reasons, but Niall McNamee deserves the respect of a short message.

Re: Advancement from Group Stages Football
Big weekends for Bracknagh and Ferbane in the Football championships. Bracknagh will go to Senior B next year having beaten Shannonbridge in the Intermediate Final, while Ferbane's victory over Tullamore will see them contest their first County Final since that most controversial of defeats to ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
I know it's difficult to understand Frank, but you've missed one vital point.
Offaly compete in both Hurling and Football and getting the fixtures right to suit both is not easy.
Tipp only have to worry about Hurling.
