Re: Minors hurlers 2022
Galway play Clare in the All-Ireland round robin this Saturday in Athenry (Richie Fitz is refereeing). Laois play the loser on Saturday 28th May, and the other one on Saturday 4th June.
The All-Ireland Minor semi-finals are on weekend 18th/19th June, the same weekend as the All-Ireland Senior ...

Re: Byrne v Duignan
Unfortunately I feel public opinion and delegate votes are not aligned for December 10th. If a vote of Offaly GAA patrons was held in the morning, I have no doubt whatsoever what way this would go but the hopes are pinned to club delegates and I have no confidence in their willingness for change ...

CLUBS: The GAA Club Planning Programme - is it any good?
Well folks,
Has any club out there adopted the GAA's Club Planning Programme, and developed a 3-year Plan for your Club?
Was it a worthwhile exercise, and would you recommend it?
Reading the Programme material, it looks like a lot of work at first glance.
I'm sure every club is different, but I ...

Appearance Fee for a County Man?
(This is a serious question)
What do you think would be reasonable expenses for an Offaly County Man (reasonably high profile) to come and do a medal presentation to an Offaly Club?
Say he had to make a round trip of 70 miles ....
Thanks!

Re: NHL Wexford v Offaly 21 february 2014
Player ratings are usually a good laugh. The Indo gave Jack Guiney 8/10 when he probably had his worst game ever and missed some crazy frees when we desperately needed them, including one 30 yards out in front of goal.

Re: NHL OFFaly v Laois 16 february 2014
I haven't read all posts on this thread but, as a neutral observer last Sunday, I would have to emphasise one thing: this was a very impressive Laois performance. The touch from their players on a heavy sod in February was very, very impressive. But for some poor shooting under no pressure they ...

Re: Offaly Football Team Versus Wexford
In the absence of an Offaly line-up, here's the opposition:
Wexford (SF v Offaly): A Masterson, N Murphy, G Molloy, D Carter, B Malone, D Murphy, C Morris, D Fogarty, B Doyle, R Barry, S Cullen, A Flynn, C Lyng, S Roche, PJ Banville.
Walsh, Morrissey (backs), Bradley (MF), and Forde all injured ...

Re: Offaly .v. Wexford - SFC Round 1 Qualifier - 4th/July/2009
First things first: why in the name of God could they not have put the throw-in back to 14.00 - or even 13.30, for all that the locals could care?
In the interests of safety it is pure madness to be inviting/forcing people (no matter how small a number) to speed in their cars!
Secondly, the N11 ...

Re: JULY 4th 2009
Yeah, fair enough. Even to move the other match to Tullamore (as I think someone suggested earlier) would have made for a great evening's hurling. But then Laois would kick up I suppose .... hard to please everyone.

Re: JULY 4th 2009
Common sense has prevailed to some extent.
To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed that Offaly Co Board didn't go a step further and request that the hurling be moved to Portlaoise to form a double-header with Antrim-Laois, which could then throw-in at 5. Now that would be value for money. It's like ...

Re: Offaly vs. Wexford match reaction
The ref and linesman bottled it, plain and simple. Waters' "challenge" on Oakley was as straight a straight red card as you'll see. It just goes to show the sheer insanity of the NHL experiment. Now refs are completely in the dark about what they should or shouldn't do. In the League he would prob ...

Re: Terrace for Saturday evening vs. Wexford
That would be the Clonard End.
Should be a great occasion. I heard that Wexford CB are expecting 20,000. If that happens it'll be the first time it's near full in the 10 years since it was redeveloped. Can't see it myself, although Wexford Hurling fans are traditionally the most blindly optimistic ...
