Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

There will be a review of the past year for team management in both codes.
I wonder if there will be a change then. The footballers look like returning to Div 3, even with two home games to play.

An interesting point in last weekend’s paper, Carlow manager Sean Murphy ? has Carlow footballers in ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

There were heavy conversations last year with the players and with the special committee that was set up, yet neither the players’ views nor the committee’s recommendations appear to have been taken on board. The manager seems to have been given a free pass, and from the outside, it looks like ...

Re: Club Managers 2024

Bracknah look set to stay with the same management team, and that’s no bad thing. They’re a seasoned, mature group at this stage and very settled. With very few county players, they play a huge amount of football together, which really shows during the league campaign. The chemistry they build ...

I don't see a particular defeat that started any decline.
People will remember matches that were lagging indicators - the decline was already in the pipeline, the match confirmed it.

There were some leading indicators too - the canary in the coalmine moments. For me it was the 1995 Leinster ...

The 1996 Leinster Final loss to Wexford was my choice. Offaly lost to Clare the previous year. There was an All Ireland final win in 1998, followed by the defeat by Kilkenny in the 2000 Final. Offaly never reached the same levels again.

Re: Club Managers 2024

Seems to be a bit of plucking at straws writing Tullamore off.
Bourke will be available for the knockout stages of the championship by what I have heard. Tullamore will have Luke Egan Aaron Hensey and Nigel bracken fit and back this year giving them more options I’d imagine a few of their senior ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

No outside manager has ever won Sam Maguire and only one has won the Liam McCarthy (Eamon Cregan) to best of my knowledge.

You could really do with expanding your knowledge there.

Offaly’s hurling all Ireland wins have been presided over by Dermot Healy (Kilkenny), Eamonn Cregan (Limerick ...

Personally these pre season matches should be scrapped. I believe this is the final year of these games.

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025

Time to move on I think from pointing the finger.
The league is going to be tough, but look at Westmeath last year, they battled well in all the games and were unlucky to be relegated. Yes there are injuries, but we need to build a panel and start emptying the bench from 50 mins this year to ...

Great win for St Michael’s fully deserved against a fancied Wheery. Congrats to them.
It’s great for Offaly football to see Rhode back again winning and competing at underage. That u 20 team will back bone Rhode for the next ten yrs . The better players are probably their minors so will be few ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025

Mullen was a huge loss to ballyhale. I think they would have won if he was on the field. Delighted Martins won , lovely to see new teams come to the fore.

I was delighted St. Martin’s won. Good to see new teams come through.
I think Ballygunner might have too much in the semi final. Fixed for w ...
