Would you ever go away with your - a drunk in a pub told me so it must be true - arseholery? 7 or 8 U16 players in an Offaly Minor squad would be about par for the course.
And how will the U16s get on without them? The same as they do every year. Other players will get called into the squad ...

Re: Underage Hurling and Football 2025
Good to see Coláiste Naomh Cormac into the All-Ireland Final. A great achievement for a small school. All the moreso with two of their better players attending school elsewhere.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
With Leinster championship games in quick succession, momentum will mean everything. Not just results, but performance and injuries/absentees. As such, its impossible to know at this stage what the mood will be heading into the Kildare game.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
The 'up side' is that in three to four year's time, Offaly's now 21 year olds will have much more intercounty experience than lads the same age from other counties.
Remember it took Offaly's 1986 Minors eight years to win a Senior All-Ireland.
If Offaly stay in the Leinster championship, their ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Just on this point. Brecon, as well as several others, is just out of U20. Those lads aren't going to be fully developed for a few years yet. Yes, they'll be on programmes, but there's a natural development too. And all the programmes and proteins in the world aren't going to give a 22 year old the ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
Looks like the third heaviest NFL defeat.
There was that 30 point hammering from Armagh. That was in 2017. And a 25 point beating from Kerry in Listowel in 1937.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
How do you improve it? Smart answer is to pick a team of lads who are over 25.
As it is, I make it today's team has seven who would be U21 this year if such a grade existed, and another three are a year older. I'd wager there isn't a team in the whole league with an age profile like that.

Getting any match played on grass over the next two to three weeks will be a miracle.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Nothing too wrong with that Offaly team. Eleven of them graduating from the underage setups of recent years, and are no strangers to high standards and performing under pressure. Many are hurling Fitzgibbon too. Taking the next logical step into Senior intercounty hurling.

Re: Underage Hurling and Football 2025
Couple of things.
I expected more from that Offaly team. Good on paper, finished it out well against South Dublin last day out.
I managed to see the second and third quarters on the stream. That was a seriously good Mullingar team. Great touch, totally dominated around the middle, had forwards too ...

The goings on at a club AGM have no place in a match report.
The people who ran to the media with stories would want to take a good look at themselves too.

A great achievement for the young man. Can only wish him the very best with this opportunity.
