The same arguments are being hashed out and will accomplish nothing. The fact is, there will be no managerial change until the end of the year, barring something out of the ordinary. People have to get used to that. No point in name-calling on this and pointing fingers at posters.
Criticism is a ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
It always interests me how team information is leaked. Not having a go at anyone who posts them here in anyway, but I always wonder about the camp when the team gets out.

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
I would always advocate for mgmt teams from your own county, we are no different even though we have heavily relied on outside managers in the past. The problem is, you need everyone in your mgmt team to bring value or something to the table so that they are respected and listened to. There are some ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
I think Watkins and King in midfield have been very solid. It’s the same points everyone is making with regards to some of the younger lads, but it’s clear that Kavanagh will need to bulk up more. An excellent hurler, no doubts about that, but when you see Conor Whelan come on and that’s the type of ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Fair enough, but contrast the proportion of Offaly to opposition crowds for the Tipp game and the game today, there is a clear difference. OCP is also much handier for me, but still not a major issue.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
I know they will be in OCP, but is there actually anything stopping us from playing our home games in Birr? I think it would suit our lads better, O’Connor Park can be lifeless enough at times. Maybe there’a an agreement or due to the lease on OCP, I’m not sure.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Generally an okay performance. Could have been beat by 15-20 points in the end, the 1-2 or 1-3 in the last 2-3 mins made the scoreline look worse.
Is there an option to play all of our home games in Birr? I think it would be great for the team but not sure what the agreement is with O’Connor Park.

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
On the injuries, the county board would do well to look close to home. Think someone brought it up in a previous post, but I know of training panelists who were ‘forced’ with doing gym and running sessions while still in club championships. I say forced as they would not have been invited into the ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
The one thing on the population argument for me, and it is a valid argument, but what else can we do? That is the cards we have been dealt and we just have to make the best of what we have. Now, are our Dublin imports the best of what we have? They might get there, but not at the minute. Is playing ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
And just the last thing I’ll say as I’m sure it’ll be brought up. I know we are a small county, I know other counties have a bigger pool of players and can pick the most athletic lads in their system and build them up skill-wise. What I mean by athletic is lads who can move well, turn/lose their man ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
I’d disagree Jimbob. Westmeath and Louth are definitely ahead of us the last couple of years. With a county like ours, we will always get a good underage team every now and again, such as last year’s minors. The problem is this year’s minors will be a good bit off that level, while Louth’s will ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
Very fair points Anonymous. As I said, a disastrous 2026 will outshine a decent 2025, which of course was preceded by a ‘not so good’ year either.

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
That’s perfectly fair, I think you’re entitled to think that. I suppose two things can be true, I think yes we were bound to be way weaker without a lot of our main players, but I would love for the management to really have done something with some of the players that were there so that the squad ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
The result was definitely one you’d take, but how the game played out was a different story. I think we would have lost if we had everyone available as Cork looked to take the foot off the pedal when they were 10 up with a gale behind them.
