Re: Club Football 2026
I was going to ask what has happened to Edenderry so this is very on point. I cannot understand how they have slipped so far back, in all honesty they are saved by being in the strong group as I think Durrow and whoever joins them in a relegation final would fancy their chances in a one off game ...

Re: Offaly Hurling Managements 27
I’m sceptical of bashing him too much, given all he’s done for the county in a playing capacity. But to me, he is a potential selector option and not a manager, but I doubt he’d want to take a step back. His Coolderry tenure wasn’t largely impressive and unfortunately, neither has this tenure. So he ...

Re: Offaly management 2027
Maybe it’s that I’m more familiar with them, but the list of ‘Offaly men’ seems more impressive than the ‘outsider’ list. I think Davy Burke would interest me, did a very respectable job with Roscommon. LS would surely have more to add on that, but from the outside looking in, I think it would be a ...

Re: Offaly Hurling Managements 27
Getting good people into these roles is another question. It could well be that the county board had no one with interest in the role or they themselves had little interest in filling the role. I suppose we won’t know.

Re: Offaly Hurling Managements 27
His first year, fair enough. It was a poor team but had some decent hurlers. However, anyone accepting losing to Laois by 31 points really needs to have a look at themselves. That cannot ever be tolerated and that result needed serious reflection across the board, which didn’t happen.

Re: Offaly Hurling Managements 27
Irrespective of his playing career, it really is a terrible reappointment and I don’t know how the county board can willingly not seek change. The only hope is that Brian has learned a lot and might change something about his approach, as it is clear it has not worked in the last 2 years. We can’t ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling 2026
I think there are a few surprises, which is making for a great championship. Don’t know what’s happened with Shinrone this year, Tullamore seem to have improved, Rynaghs look to be back to their competitive level.

Re: Offaly Club Hurling 2026
Just saw Liam O’Riordain from Ballyskenagh/Killavilla was playing for UCC in the Cork championship tonight, albeit they ran out losers in the end. Great for him to get that level of hurling and by all accounts he played well, getting a few scores. Definitely a promising hurler.

Re: Offaly Club Hurling 2026
Got to see the Belmont Lusmagh game and truth be told, the game was never allowed to develop into an actual match. Everything was so stop start and frees were blown for anything. I think that’s a common feat throughout the championships and it needs to be looked at. Fair enough, frees can be ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling 2026
KK with a convincing enough win. Kinnitty wouldn’t be targeting that game at all and weirdly could have been a lot closer. Both teams hit a lot of bad wides, but Kinnitty really can’t afford to miss as many easy chances as they did, both from frees and play. They gave away a lot of scores from ...

Re: Club Football 2026
I think it basically comes down to Edenderry just not being at it this year. They are quite fortunate to be in the strong group as they would be facing a relegation final in any other year. It sounds like management have been ran or walked so if it was any other year, they would be in bother.

Re: Offaly management 2027
Man management and keeping everyone on side is the most important part of management, irrespective of the sport. What hardline approach has worked in recent years? It won’t work anymore, you can be strict but fair and unfortunately, it didn’t sound like there was a whole pile of fairness.

Re: Offaly management 2027
It’s not going to happen. Kilkenny has never expressed interest in management to my knowledge and is still young enough to play for his club for many years.

Re: Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship
I do think it could be possible, but I hear your points. I understand that the Senior B teams would be going into a competition they couldn’t realistically win, but I feel that the exposure to playing the better teams will bring them on. If there is such a gap, then the teams that should be in the ...
