Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Still early days I assume as championship still on. Was Kellaghan dropped?
Nobody else springs to mind as Ru is retired. After that really you are left with the Darby’s, McNamees, Sullivan etc who are all finished with Offaly.
Kellaghan never got his full chance yet, and he had a good year for ...

Re: Club football 2025
Good point Del. Nice to put a bit of perspective on it. Maybe Cheddar could add games played in another column. Some of the top 20 only played 4 games too.

Re: Club football 2025
No problem with a difference of opinion, that's as it should be. I think Cathal Flynn was outstanding and CJ played well, you think CJ was the main man, that's all fine. There's no right and wrong there.
Just when you start bringing in stuff about me having a personal agenda or grudge against a ...

Sorry, should have explained. That snapshot probably explains better than anything, Adam Egan's left foot comes from on or just outside the arc before he swings at the ball - but does that count, or is it where is his foot ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Agree with a lot of this Kevin.
A few points though. There is a big gap between decent and elite players. There are a lot of decent players on the 26 and extended panel that got zero game time. Bringing in a few more decent players won't help the cause. They have to be good enough to make a ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
We absolutely have a long way to go, but a key thing here is that it's easy to see where the gains will come from. If I was to contrast things with when we were last up in Division Two, when we were very unlucky to be relegated, you'd point to things like:
(1) So many of the mainstays of the ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Can't see why we can't win this one too.. We have beaten them twice and in both games we never really looked like losing.
Darragh Kirwan still out by the looks of it. Jimmy Hyland out long term. Callum Bolton out. I think we have a great chance.

Re: Offaly minor football panel 2025
Roger is a brilliant guy and has done very well with a very talented group. Bringing in the best players around at this age group. But it shouldn’t be forgotten that if someone had their way one player wouldn’t be there because he played a bit of soccer when he was 14.
Would we be in a Leinster ...

Re: Offaly u20 Footballers 2025
That’s what they get for treating some of the lads the way they did.
They thought they could do without them.
Their eyes were well and truly opened. Diarmuid O Neill with a bad injury and instead of trying to get him right they just drop him off the panel. Not surprising though with what was ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
I see according to the express that both Jack O'Brien and Kevin McDermott have both left the panel also.
Whatever about Nigel opting out at this stage, surely these lads especially O'Brien who got plenty of time last year should be seeing the year out.
I know that these guys don't have to play ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
Anyone who knows Nigel and his mentality will realise he was frustrated with not playing. He knows deep down he had something to offer for 10 or 15 minutes in those last 2 big games, and when it didn't happen, he decided to hang up his inter-county boots. He's not going to come out and say that for ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
As tends to happen most years, a few guys have left the panel. Most notably, Nigel Dunne.
Never easy to be on the fringes of panels, and how Offaly has used subs extremely sparingly, you can understand players frustrations. Lads seem to want to go back to their clubs and play league games rather ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
After 2 days to reflect on the game
I have come to the conclusion the two
Management system is not the way forward
I was talking to a cousin at a funeral who
Is a mayo selector he talked a lot of common sense about Offaly there potential but also there weaknesses.
He was of the idea that Kelly ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
A real Jekyll and Hyde performance yesterday.
Phenomenal first half and extremely poor second half.
A lot of lads scratching their heads today I imagine. None more so than David, Roo, Nigel and Bourke.
I could understand the management not going to the bench in a few previous games when the ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2025
What are we thinking ahead of Sunday?
Have a good chance I think. 2 of Meaths best forwards out with ACL injuries in recent weeks. Never nice to see.
Offaly will likely field the same team that started the league final.
Sawyer back on the 26 apparently. Haven't seen anything to suggest he ...
