Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025
I'm very wary of offending anyone with this post, because I know several people involved with Brosna Gaels that are ferociously committed to the cause, so I'm going to keep this as factual as I can.
(1) It's all very well to say that in an ideal world, players would stick with their own club ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025
Brosna Gaels train Monday and Thursdays plus whatever games they play after that.
Bernard Allen was probably their best forward this year. He missed a number of trainings coming up to the semi final and was duly dropped. Quite harshly in my opinion but message is clear to all that training is ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025
I’m sure it’ll be dressed up a multitude of ways but 4,000 people is some drop off from the 6,937 that turned up to St Brendan’s Park in 2023.
A 42% (if my maths are correct!) decrease is pretty substantial.

Re: Offaly U20 Hurlers 2025
I think there were three main reasons for the way things developed this year;
1. Injuries to key players such as Daniel Hand, Ter Guinan, Caelum Larkin and Ruairí Kelly and previous injuries that were clearly still hampering Screeney and Rigney.
2. The number of U20’s who were simultaneously ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
one thing I thought from the second half was that our backline lost its shape badly in those last 10 minutes or so. Very similar to the KK na fianna game. Kiely has a huge amount to offer but maybe around half forward or even full forward at that stage of game with his size and power.
obviously ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
I'm fully with Lone Shark. u20s should be left prioritise and play u20.
its a very good standard and highly competitive. there's every chance they will struggle in the u20 leinster championship because all the teams are competitive. if they could get to another leinster final it would be a very ...

Re: Leinster Club Hurling Championship
I agree with alot of the post match reaction here.
Key points;
1. K/K can be proud of their effort and battled bravely. They were up against a physical and seasoned team who probably left a leinster behind them last year without a key player in that final too. Also it was effectively a home game as ...

Re: Leinster Club Hurling Championship
Just looking at the Na Fianna agenda for the day, it looks like a fun family, inclusive day all round - it really is what a club is all about. Success is great, but bringing people together is hugely important too - be that the nursery, watching a rugby match in the club house, or the parade to ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
Putting under 20 ahead of liam mcarthy hurling? The priority is to stay in the leinster senior championship and liam mcarthy. That's what all the development squads etc are geared towards. No point in winning underage titles if your seniors are floundering. I don't know how offaly will work it ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2025
Just going with the glass half empty option for this post and I am not suggesting this will actually happen. But we have to tease out all scenarios.
It’s widely accepted that Johnny Kelly and Leo O’Connor wouldn’t have the best working relationships (the rights and wrongs here can be interpreted ...

Re: Junior A Hurling Championship 2024
Well Done Belmont. Worthy winners.
Would it be fair to say a few lads playing Junior are a loss to their senior setup? Certainly very useful subs to have.
Its nice tio win the junior but was it a factor in the slip with the seniors?

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2024
Looks like they are going ahead which is nothing short of disgraceful. The clubs left in the dirt as usual. The split season is a joke, leaving it open to stuff like this and county finals in October simply shouldn't happen. Players have trained hard for 10 odd months to have to come out ...

Re: SENIOR HURLING FINAL 2024
Well done to KK. Without question, the better team and the best in this county.
They looked a bit flat and the conditions were difficult. But just remember, the ground was not soft. It was pretty solid and they will slog in a heavier pitch as the weeks tick by. That can be harder handle for ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers - Planning for 2025, Mickey Harte onboard
I am sure Harte is experienced enough that he will get to know his group of players and the best style of play to suit them. The approach he has used with some teams clearly wont work with Offaly as we dont have the physical players to implement that type of gameplan. we dont have a huge number of ...
