Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

The dog on the street does not know the team.

You know it because you know a player.

Other people know players too and know the team early but they don’t get their phone out and deliberately try to undermine the team and management by revealing the actual team.

If you call yourself an Offaly ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

Plenty of encouragement to take from the first half. Slow starts have been a huge problem for us this year so it was nice to be still in a game at halftime.

The second half was quite poor. Two points down and playing with the wind, you’d have felt quietly confident we could come away with something ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

The more you think about the result, the worse it gets.

As far as I can see, 2-25 is the biggest tally conceded in any league game across all four divisions this year.

0-08 is the lowest tally scored in any league game across all four divisions this year.

We have the worst scoring difference ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

One of the worst Offaly performances in recent memory.

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

If it was all about population then explain why Wicklow with double Offaly’s population are division 4 in football and division 3 in hurling?

Population is only one part of the jigsaw.

Tradition and structures are of co-equal importance.

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

That’s perfectly fair, I think you’re entitled to think that. I suppose two things can be true, I think yes we were bound to be way weaker without a lot of our main players, but I would love for the management to really have done something with some of the players that were there so that the squad ...

I was at the game to support the players.

Managers will come and go.

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

No Iv stated previously I disagree with management on certain decisions ....the obvious ones , Dempsey , sawyer etc etc....sawyer and Murphy not being from the county of course is a sore point and I get that totally...im totally in agreement with folks on these points ..also totally believe people ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

Didn't get to game so interested in what people think. On radio it said there were only 1200 people there, with majority from Cork. That is truly disappointing and should be of concern to county board. An attendance that low in a Div 2 home game is fairly brutal and not good for brand Offaly GAA ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

The scoreline flattered us today
I missed the first 20 mins was at a funeral
But to honest cork are a different class to us .
We keep going on about injuries and non selection and personal dislikes
3 games no goals
The management have to take responsibility.
It's like watching the talteann cup ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

Anybody not at the game will think the result wasn’t too bad and it wasn’t but it’s extremely deceiving.

Cork pulled up early enough in the second half and if they needed to win by 10/12 etc it wouldn’t have been much of a problem for them.

9 points down at halftime while playing with the wind is ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

Cian Johnson broke a finger in the week before the mayo game presume he’s still in there just not back from injury
I believe there will be a change in goals tomorrow too.
Hopefully also if the likes of Lee Pearson and Diarmuid Egan are injured that they are let recover and not be persuaded to ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

The injuries excuse only goes so far.

Offaly had 8 changes last night from the team that started the League final against Kildare last year.

Kildare had 9.

Same problems are re-appearing.

Two in particular being the kickouts and the inside forward line.

The kickouts is a two-fold problem. One ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026

On the face of it, a five point defeat to the Leinster Champions isn’t all that bad.

However, given the context, it’s not great. This was one of the three “winnable” games along with Kildare and Cavan and if we lose on Saturday we’re effectively gone.

The first half was okay but as we saw against ...
