Dual Counties
Dual players are now a thing of the past. Is this also true for all but the biggest counties? Dublin Cork maybe Galway can support competitive teams in both codes. Roscommon and Monaghan play div 1 football with smaller populations than Offaly but effectively play no hurling.

Re: Offaly v Kildare, Senior football qualifier, 4th July
Surely this year has been one of progress under Pat Flanagan. Hope everyone involved builds on this for next year. Proof today that Offaly have nothing to be afraid of in D3 next league.

Re: Offaly vs Clare - 2015 Senior Hurling Qualifier R1
Great post, UTF.
This site has become a haven for pessimists lately. That's a debate for another day.

Re: Offaly v kildare
Kildare knocked up 14 points against the Dubs. Fogarty looks like he will cause a lot of problems. Kildare will expect to finish in top 2 in div 3 next yr. If Offaly finish anywhere from 6 up it will be progress.

Re: All-Ireland Football Qualifiers
Im going to get Pedantic Pat about this.
Have a look at the Official GAA website fixtures.
Offaly have been knocked out of the Leinster Championship.
On June 20th they play their first game in the All Ireland championship.
The world has changed but no one has noticed.

Re: Offaly vs Longford, Leinster SFC, Saturday 16/05/2015
I dont buy that the format is the biggest problem. If there was a rational fixture list it would solve a lot of problems. Longford will be 2 weeks out of the leinster championship after playing two games before Wicklow kick a ball. What genius drew that up?

Re: Offaly vs Longford, Leinster SFC, Saturday 16/05/2015
Disappointment put aside any judgement on progress compared to last year or two years ago when we also had promotion has to be suspended until the next game. For long stretches last night Offaly looked comfortably the better team. Bad luck (McConway) bad refereeing (Smyth and Sullivan) and maybe ...

Re: Offaly vs Longford, Leinster SFC, Saturday 16/05/2015
Disappointing, but lets not have a queue of lads wanting to put the boot in.
Hard not to such was the level of disappointment at what happened here.
You want to stay positive but hesus how do live with an 11 to 1 floor wiping. And the 1 was a soft free that the ref brought in to the easiest of ...

Re: Division 4 league final Offaly v Longford
Very good and valid topic for debate.
I have not seen all the games played over the period you are talking about but sometimes you get a better view from a distance.
Fistly the management team is better. I dont think there can be any debate about that. Flanagan is an experienced manager at a higher ...

Re: Division 4 league final Offaly v Longford
One of the advantages of promotion hopefully will be better referees. Even though no one cared because of the result saturdays ref made a huge amount of plain wrong decisions both ways. The one that annoys me most and he did it several times was to penalise the player with the ball when he was ...

Re: Division 4 league final Offaly v Longford
Well done to every member of the team on yesterday. Player and backroom. It was great to see offaly on the hogan steps again. Even McConways words at theend were very good. The football itself reminded me of the leinster final in 1997. Not at that level yet but it felt good.

Re: Memories of an Offaly man in Croke Park
Yea. Shared all those memories too. That football team should have had leinster from 79 to 83. I wss far more gutted about losing 83 than 79. In 83 as ai champs they were playing brilliant football and steamrolled through leinster. McGee has admitted he made s big mistake in their approach to dublin ...
