Re: Club football 2025

"I actually agree with Parkinson's idea that a player should have to play 3 seasons with a club before they're allowed to play in Provincial campaign. Because atleast then the player is obviouslty commited to the club and has served his time. This shouldn't be just for Dublin. This should be for ...

Re: Club Managers 2024

A little bit of perspective on Ballinamere would be great. This is a club who have risen from perennial intermediate with few(if any) county players to a club that can easily considered top 5 senior with 7-8 quality players contributing to the Offaly panel.

If Ballinamere hadn't prospered when it ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025

A slap that occurred while going for the ball in play and would have been a yellow at worst.

He drove the hurl down on the man's forearm as he was handpassing the ball. There'd be awful crying about it done on here if the roles were reversed, I can guarantee you that. People would be ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025

Regards Kinahan I generally thought he was ok but he does like to think of himself as a 'tough man referee' allowing players to work it out themselves and not getting too caught up in the technicalities.

With this in mind the decision for steps against McLoughlin seems out of step completely. KK ...

Re: Club football 2025

The problem with reducing cship to 6 teams is how small the pool of players playing top level club football in the county would be. Counties rarely expand cships again because a gap naturally develops between each grade. What happens if a chasm develops between the top 3 and bottom 3 in Senior A ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025

The problem here is all based around power dynamics. The real issue here isn't the actual walkover. If it was a single club entity I'd imagine that the same decision would have been arrived at with much less fuss.

However the problem for a lot of Durrow people is that there's a perception (right or ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025

Thought it was a strange move today to play County full back C Burke in corner on Screeney and McDonald on James Gorman. Neither looked comfortable at all and I felt it unsettled their defence from the off.

Re: Club football 2025

Durrow and Ballinamere have long been an interesting arrangement and often an unhappy marriage (although it's probably a courtship at best).

When things are flowing along well for hurling and football everything is rosey but it takes very little to rock a boat like that. Hard to see it lasting ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling Championship 2025

Ballinamere look sapped of energy to be honest.

They subbed off a player today and subbed him back on again instead of using another sub. Doesn't say much for faith in the panel of players.

Morale looks low looking in from outside. I could be wrong but I'd imagine it's all stick and very little ...

Re: Offaly Minor Football 2024

Simple enough solution. If individual clubs have 10 players (boys and girls if needed)then they field at u7,u9 and u11 Go Go Games, focusing on enjoyment, skill development and player retention. If 20/30 players available then field 2/3 teams. Play 7/8/9 aside as suits.

When competitive games start ...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2024

Watching Clareen and Rynaghs on Clubber. Seems like every tackle is a free. Having watched Tipperary and KK club action recently it seems like this is reffed a lot softer. Not much actual play.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Anyway we tend to think of the u20s and the seniors as almost the same now but the u20s have a different mindset. They thrive on the big occassion while this attitude will eventually seep into the senior team, its not there yet.

The seniors have lost to Down, Carlow, drew with Kildare and haven't ...
